A four-part anthology about the overlooked occupants of Kenya’s capital: street children, sex workers, street vendors, and waste collectors. The documentary shows the perspectives of street kids, sex workers, street vendors, and waste collectors, with the cinematography positioning the viewer as an observer into another world; a world that moves while most are sleeping. Nairobi by Night is a reference to those who exist at the margin of Kenyan society, despite interacting with the majority of the city’s dwellers on a daily basis. The film’s tone is predominantly depicted by the stories of the subjects, poetically revealed in the form of well-crafted montages of the situations that begin their night.
